Be Fruitful.

Hello everyone!  I truly hope that you are experiencing a great week.  I realize that some of us have had to deal with a lot in the past week, personally and as a member of the world community.  My prayer is that you overcome the negative feelings and continue to do your part to help make your life and community in general, better.  I also send prayers to the family of Jacob Blake and all whose lives have been affected.

Listen, last week’s blog encouraged you to “Stay Up” so today I’m going to offer another reason why you should.  Be Fruitful.  God said it!  Be Fruitful.  He did not ask us to.  He commanded us to “Be Fruitful”.  While “being fruitful” has a couple different aspects, the one that we will focus on is being “financially and materially productive”.  Yes, God wants us to be “productive” friends.  And, again, he has given each of us something that will help us achieve it.

In the last blog, I encouraged you to “search” yourself so that you can discover hidden creative thoughts, gifts, talents, etc. that you could further develop or put to use to help you improve your life or the lives of others.  Let’s call the creative thoughts, gifts or talents– seeds.  Your seed is anything that God has gifted you that can be traded for something else—that “something” can be tangible or intangible.  Does your seed make your life or the life of others’ better/easier?  Does your seed cause others to smile?  Does your seed help someone else discover their seed(s)?   You know, we would not have been instructed to “Be Fruitful” if we had not been supplied with the seed(s) to do so.  By the way, the seed(s) that come from God bring about positive productivity.

Friends, what are your seed(s)?  I know that this question may not apply to some of you because you have discovered yours and are now thriving.  However, this blog may inspire you to help someone else on their journey to self-sufficiency (and I use this term loosely because we are all inter-dependent).  I choose to “Be Fruitful” and to help others discover the precious seed(s) that God deposited in them so that they can live productive lives.   Be fruitful my friends!  Amen.  And, so it is!

[Side Note:  Speaking of seeds.  It is time to start planning for next Spring’s flower garden.  I think that I will have another tulip garden.  How will you beautify your yard?  Get your perennial seeds in the ground now by clicking here.]  #Ad

Stay Up!

Stay Up!

Friends, it has taken a couple days for me to get this blog done.  I went back and forth on what the topic should be and finally decided to address the elephant in the room.  How do you “stay up” in a down world?  I asked that question because recently I have been bombarded with bad, sad stories.  People are suffering all over this country and many are being told that they cannot be helped!  So, again, I ask, how do you stay up in what appears to be a down world?

First and foremost, you must remain positive!  Despite the bad reports about how bad things are, know that its just half the story.  Dig deep and focus on the good in the world, in your community, in your life.  Do not, I repeat, do not internalize the negativity.  Keep positive uplifting, encouraging, forward moving people around you.

Secondly, do not allow yourself to succumb to fear.  Remember, God did not give “his people” the spirit of fear so fear has no place in your life!  Have you already allowed fear and worry to creep in?  Well, replace that fear with your faith and get to work.  Why do I say get to work?

Here it is.  The work will be whatever it takes to make your situation better and, prayer precedes it.  Yes.  Here I go again,  Pray and believe!  Command your day!  Ask God to order your steps. Speaking of steps, step up your job search or business plan.  Reach out to others for assistance.  While waiting for your job/business opportunity/assistance, search yourself.  What other gifts, talents, or skill-sets do you have that you can put to work right now to bring on productivity?  We all have something! Also, schedule your days so that you can stay on track.  And, know the difference between being busy and being productive.

I realize that it is getting real for some.  However, you all, the choice is ours.  Are we going to “stay up” or are we going to allow the current negative state of things bring us down?  I choose “up”!  And I choose to be the person that will keep you “up” because I know that God wants to, has, and continues to Bless.  Be Blessed my friends and Stay Up!  Amen.  And so it is!

Another Checklist.

Friends, this is a friendly reminder.  Do not lose momentum in the fight for racial, economic, and social justice for blacks and people of color in America.  Do not allow your flame to fizzle out.  Here is a checklist of basic actions that you as an individual can take to do your part.

*Pray and meditate

*Educate yourself on the issues

*Join one of the causes or movements

*Donate to an organization(s) that has been in the forefront of these issues

If you lead a corporation, business, or organization—

*implement and commit to hiring practices that are truly fair and equitable

*implement and commit to pathways for promotions and growth that are fair

*commit to creating a culture of zero tolerance of discrimination, prejudice, and bias

*commit to doing business with black owned businesses, vendors, etc.

*commit to appointing african-american board members

*donate to organizations that advocate for the advancement of black people

Lastly, if you witness a discriminatory act of any form, report it!  Say something!  Also, stop intentionally or unintentionally participating in those micro-aggressive actions towards blacks and other people of color.   And, shame on anyone black who’s guilty of this jerky behavior towards his own or any people. It’s sickening.

Friends, remember, the spirit behind it all was defeated a long, long time ago!  All we have to do is remind it of this truth.  Amen.  And so it is!

Reminder, the next show will broadcast later in the month of August.  However, you can always visit https://youtube.com/MarilynsCafeSociety to view older shows.  And, be sure to “like”, subscribe, SHARE, and follow my social media platforms at https://twitter.com/marilynscafesoc; https://facebook.com/Marilyn’s Café Society; and marilynscafesociety.com.  Peace.

Checklist.

Everyone, despite this pandemic, economic shift, change, and time-out, we still have to continue to strive for success. Here is a checklist of basic daily things that we can do to help ourselves reach our success goals in life, love, business or work.

*Pray and meditate

*Exercise

*Eat/drink healthy

*Review and revise your plans, goals, dreams

*Learn something new

*Do something creative

*Go outside to play

*Stay connected socially

*Love on somebody/bodies

*Help somebody/bodies

*Stay thankful/grateful

*Get sleep

Sounds familiar?  It should.  I’ve shared similar checklists over the years via the broadcast or this blog.  Keep in mind that repetition is a good way to strengthen learning and to establish good habits.  Friends, these are the basics.  Everything else you achieve beyond this list is the “icing on the cake”, the “cherry on top”, or as our Heavenly Father puts it, “your cup running over”! Amen.  And so it is!
