Hey Friends!  How are you doing?  I am doing good.  In fact, as I was taking in and enjoying the evening/dusk a few days ago, I noticed an interesting sound.  I’d heard it before in the past couple of weeks but really didn’t give it any attention.  This time, however, I was intentionally listening.

I was looking too.  But, I was unable to see anything.  At first I thought, crickets?  No, I reasoned.  The sound was so loud that there would have to be millions of them.  And besides, crickets don’t settle in tree top branches.   Then I remembered the news stories that I read about “Brood X” back in the Spring.  Brood X or the Great Eastern Brood refers to the trillions of cicadas that have emerged from beneath the soil after living there for the past 17 years.  The reason that they make an above ground appearance is to mate!  Yes, the loud, buzzing sound that I heard was the male cicadas calling their mates!!!  My goodness what a life song!

After they mate, they die.  The male cicadas die right after mating but the female will live long enough to lay 500 eggs in tree branches and then she dies.  Life goes on, however. Six to ten weeks later the eggs hatch, drop to the ground, and burrow underground for the next 17 years. 

According to CNN, the are not harmful to humans or animals.  As a matter of fact, unfortunately for them, they can become food for both.  Scientist haven’t figured out the 17 year life-cycle of the cicadas either but have noted that there is a smaller Brood that emerges every 13 years. 

This Brood X is the largest and people living in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Virginia have been experiencing them since some time in May.  As stated, I really just started hearing the noise a couple weeks ago in my neighborhood situated in Illinois.

Hello Friends!

I hope that you are having a good week.  I’m well. So, someone reached out last week and made a criticizing comment about the last blog having too many “I”s in it.  My response was when speaking about yourself, what other way is there to refer to oneself?  After all, this past week’s blog title and message is about the power of “I will”.  Furthermore, there would not/could not be a “we” or “us” unless there were a whole lot of “I”s.

Now listen, “I” discovered a long time ago that some people are just negative critics and “I” believe it’s because they simply don’t like or love themselves.  Someone could have nine out ten positives going on and the negative person/people will pick out that one thing to harp on.  Or, in some cases (and this one in particular) attempt to make “something negative” out of what is clearly positive, encouraging, and inspiring.  Anyway, you all, when confronted with the negative critics, discern whether it is warranted and then conduct yourselves accordingly by accentuating the positive!

Friends, how are you?  I AM well and I hope that you are too.

So, there’s still a month or so of summer left and I will continue to enjoy it to the best of my ability.  I will complete my in-house projects.  I will continue to work on the upcoming shows for the new season.  I will meet, talk, and connect with interesting people from all around the world.  I will continue to take care of myself. I will pray. I will succeed.  I will live abundantly.  I will laugh joyfully.  I will love and be loved.   I will is very close kin to I AM.  I AM, therefore, I will.

Hello there, friends.  Have you noticed how further divided this country is becoming?

Male, Female, Other

Blacks, Whites, Latinx, Asians, Others

Super Rich Upper Class, Rich New Money Class, Working Middle Class, Working Poor Class, Poor Class

Democrats, Republicans, Liberals, Independents, Others

Christian, Catholics, Judaism, Muslims, Buddhists, Others

Oh, and the newest category–Unvaccinated, Vaccinated

Let’s just go ahead and physically divide the states accordingly and designate each category of people to a region/area.  You go and stay over “there”–while others go to their “there” and stay! No, I think not!

THIS IS WORTH REPEATING—  No one should be pointing fingers at the unvaccinated or the vaccinated.  So, again, STOP IT!  Good news—now between the vaccinated and natural/herd immunity occurring, a little more than 80% of Americans are somewhat safe.  However, we should all continue to wear masks as the coronavirus and all its variants return to the pit of hell from which they came and the 80% number becomes 100% immunity.
