Justice for Julius Jones

Hello Friends.  Today’s blog space is dedicated to this important advocacy work for Julius Jones.  To learn more, visit https://www.justiceforjuliusjones.com.

“We’re less than one week out from Julius Jones’ clemency hearing. This is truly his final opportunity at justice.

So please—even if you’ve done it already—contact Governor Kevin Stitt and the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board and tell them to spare Julius’ life.

Julius has been on death row for more than half his life for a crime he’s always said he did not commit. The trial lawyers in his case have acknowledged their shortcomings that contributed to his wrongful conviction. Another man has told multiple people that he—not Julius—is the one who committed this crime. During the trial, the jury was made up of all white people and one Black person, and one jury member used a racial slur against Julius.

All of these things should cast doubt on Julius’ guilt, and in order to execute someone in this country—to take away their life forever—you must know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that they are guilty. And that simply is not the case here.

Executing an innocent person is something you can never take back.”

Thank you,
Rev. Cece Jones-Davis
